I stand firm in the faith

“Be alert, stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong.” - 1 Corinthians 16:13 CSB

Confess: “I stand firm in the faith”

“And he will stand, because the Lord is able to make him stand.” - Romans 14:4 CSB

Confess: “I will stand because the Lord is able to make me stand.”

“I cannot and will not recant anything, for to go against conscience is neither right nor safe. Here I stand, I can do no other, so help me God. Amen.” - Martin Luther

On the battlefield of life and faith, I have at several times found myself at a crossroads. I stand peering down two separate pathways. Both pathways require a step of faith. Both seem to have merit and there are a great number of arguments to support the leap in that direction. But as I take out my binoculars and peer further down the pathways, I see completely different realities. The pathway of unbelief inevitably leads to meaningless chaos and despair and the path of belief leads to life. It takes a great deal of faith to believe that this magnificent universe is an accident.

In the father of a boy possessed by demons, we see doubt and confession of truth aimed at belief. Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’? Everything is possible for the one who believes.”Immediately the father of the boy cried out, “I do believe; help my unbelief!” Mark 9:23-24 CSB

Confess: “I STAND FIRM IN THE FAITH!”

“Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist,” Ephesians 6:4a (CSB)How can you stand against this flood?
